A second season of HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries "Big Little Lies" hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but Reese Witherspoon is making sure she's available, just in case.

The actress just dropped out of "Pale Blue Dot," a movie she's been attached to star in and produce since 2015, according to Variety. Noah Hawley (creator of "Legion") was recently announced to direct the movie, which is about an astronaut who begins to unravel after returning from a space mission.

It was set to begin filming in Spring 2018, the same time slot when "Big Little Lies" would reportedly kick off filming its second season.

"Big Little Lies" won eight Emmys in September, including acting wins for Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgard. Witherspoon won an Emmy as one of the show's executive producers and was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. Costar Kidman (whose character had an emotional domestic abuse story line) won that category.

Although nothing is official yet for more intrigue in Monterey, author Liane Moriarty, whose novel the series is based on, said at this year's Emmys, "I'm thinking about it. It's a beautiful possibility."
