A Bayer Leverkusen star who helped the German side achieve an unbeaten 2023/24 campaign has been linked with Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Jonathan Tah helped Xabi Alonso's side achieve Bundesliga greatness last season, lifting the title with 28 wins, six draws and not a single loss to their name. The same side would also lift the DFB-Pokal after a 1-0 victory over FC Kaiserslautern with ten men, and come runners up in the Europa League after Ademola Lookman scored a hat-trick in the final - their only defeat in all games played in the 2023/24 campaign.

Speaking at a press conference last month, Alonso heaped on the praise for his centre half. He said: "Overall, Jonha is performing in the highest level and I am really happy for him because he deserves all the praise and all the good moments he's living - that he keeps playing for us and happily for the national team as well."

But work must be done if Leverkusen want to keep a hold of the 28-year-old, as he enters the final year of his contract with the club. And one team who will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next year's Premier League campaign and snap up a bargain centre back is Chelsea, who could potentially look at Tah as a promising player to join the team.

Tosin Adarabioyo looks set to join Enzo Maresca's side on a free after running down his contract with Fulham, but the Italian coach could be looking to bring Tah to the side too according to journalist Christian Falk - who told Substack : "Jonathan Tah is faced with the decision whether to extend his stay with Bayer Leverkusen or move to a new club this summer.

"Bayern Munich are specifically interested in the Germany international after his strong form for their rivals Leverkusen in their Bundesliga title-winning campaign, but there is also interest from Chelsea."

Tah seems content at his current club however, previously silencing links with Liverpool. Speaking in 2017 about rumours that the Merseysiders were looking to sign the talent, Tah said: "I am very happy at Bayer Leverkusen. I don't want to leave."

Tah came through the youth ranks of Hamburg before making his senior debut in the 2013/14 season. After enjoying a loan spell with Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2014, Leverkusen would sign him the next year. He has made 353 appearances for the club in all competitions, while also achieving 24 caps for Germany since 2016.
