Morgan Smith has signed a two-year deal with a Championship club following his exit from Hull FC. The 26-year-old was one of three players to be told they were surplus to requirement at the Black and Whites, as excusively reported by Hull Live earlier this month, the other two being Jack Walker and Liam Tindall.

And it's Smith who has now secured his future up until the 2026 season, with the Featherstone native signing a deal with Sheffield Eagles, again as per Hull Live's Thursday report. The hooker or half-back will link up with former Black and Whites Matty Dawson-Jones and Masimbaashe Matongo, who recently signed a one-year deal. Former academy player Connor Bower is also in the South Yorkshire club's squad.

Smith played 26 times for Hull in his one and only season at the club, scoring two tries, including a last-minute winner against London Broncos. He started the year at half-back but also played hooker in what was a turbulent campaign with little continuity. Before his move to the Airlie Birds, he played for Wakefield Trinity and has also had spells at London, Warrington Wolves, and hometown club Featherstone Rovers.

The futures of Walker and Tindall are still unknown. However, the duo have been training hard this pre-season, with Walker documenting their progress on his Instagram page.
