Journalist Darren Lewis has revealed that Tottenham ‘like’ a Premier League playmaker and ‘easily’ seal a £25-30million transfer in the January window.
Antonio Conte is on the hunt for new additions to his squad in the closing weeks of the window as Spurs’ top-four challenge has begun to unravel, while the rivals appear to be getting stronger.
The Italian is known to want another centre-back, right wing-back and a creative midfielder.
At this stage, he appears to be no closer to getting a central defender in, while Tottenham’s opening bid for Sporting full-back Pedro Porro has been rejected.
However, a much-needed creative force could be on his way to north London, according to Lewis.
Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard is on the radar of a number of top Premier League clubs after falling out with Roberto De Zerbi.
And it’s claimed that Spurs have already had a cheeky £12m offer knocked back for his services.
But speaking on the Last Word about Tottenham’s potential business this summer, Lewis feels a deal for Trossard should be ‘easily achievable, as long as Daniel Levy is realistic with his next offer.
Spurs face major rivals for Seagulls star
Asked if the deal could get done, he said: “Yes, in a word. Tottenham like him and Tottenham have had a conversation over him. The thing about Trossard is that Chelsea like him as well, the agent is offering him to a lot of clubs.”
“I think he had six months left, but they’ve activated the option so that he has another year, so that they don’t lose them on the cheap.
“And they’ve been talking about the fact that they want their full valuation for him. But to be fair, I would imagine that sort of about £25-30m, and [that is] easily achievable.”
Trossard‘s successful spell on the south coast has taken a real turn after his bust-up with Seagulls boss De Zerbi.
It’s claimed that the Belgian’s agent is currently trying his best to secure a move for his client.
Much will now depend on Trossard’s preference over who he wants to join next.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal are known to be admirers of the winger, who scored a hat-trick at Anfield earlier in the season.
With that in mind, Levy and Tottenham will need to act quickly and offer a realistic price to get their man.
Conte’s men are next in action on Thursday evening when they face a daunting clash with Manchester City.
