Renzo Gracie Sentenced to Community Service for Assault of NYC Bouncer
Renzo, Igor, and Gregor Gracie, and four others took no-jail plea deal on Thursday in relation to the beating of a doorman at the trendy 1Oak club in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District last May.
The Gracies, along with four other men, were arrested in the early morning hours outside of the Manhattan nightclub after allegedly beating up a bouncer from the club. The bouncer was later identified as Craig Molesphini.
“All of the seven men were fighting, doing MMA moves on the guards, some of whom were injured,” he said. “In my entire 14-year career, I have never seen anything like this,” said Molesphini, according to a New York Post report on the plea deal.
The seven men involved in the altercation – including Renzo, Igor and Gregor Gracie – were initially charged with gang assault. According to Fox Sports, the charge was later reduced from felony gang assault to a misdemeanor assault charge.

At Thursday’s proceedings, Renzo and Igor Gracie, Leonardo Leite, Rafael Barbosa and Carvalho Da Costa pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in exchange for 10 to 15 days of community service. Leonardo DaCosta and Gregor Gracie (whose legal name is Gregor Rangel) pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in exchange for 1 to 3 days of community service.
Renzo Gracie is one of the most famed members of the Gracie clan, having amassed an MMA record of 13-7-1 with 1 no contest. The 47-year-old veteran hasn’t fought since UFC 112 in April of 2010.
Neither Igor (5-4) nor Gregor Gracie (7-4) have no fought MMA since 2013.
