Browns' Odell Beckham Jr. has torn ACL, ending his season

Odell Beckham Jr.’s season is over.

The wide receiver tore his ACL in Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals and is done for the year, the Cleveland Browns announced Monday. Josina Anderson first reported the news on Monday morning.

Beckham was injured midway through the first quarter in Sunday’s victory in Cincinnati. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw his first pass of the game to Beckham, but it was intercepted by cornerback Darius Phillips. Beckham ran after him and tried to make a tackle and appeared to hurt his knee while leaping over a Bengal.

If anyone is wondering whether there’s a way the Browns can jettison Beckham now that he’s missing the rest of the 2020 season and possibly some of the 2021 season, the answer is a big no.

Beckham is no stranger to season-altering injuries. He missed significant time in 2017 with an ankle fracture. He missed the final four games of the 2018 season with a quad injury. And now after seven games, his 2020 season is over.

He was hoping for redemption after his first season with the Browns was less than stellar, but he’ll have to wait until 2021 to get it.
