Report: Joel Embiid will be doubtful for 76ers-Wizards Game 5 after MRI on knee

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will be listed as doubtful for Game 5 against the Washington Wizards after undergoing an MRI on his sore right knee on Tuesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Embiid left Monday's Game 4 in the first quarter after a hard fall on his tailbone. He also appeared to tweak his right knee on the fall. He continued to play after the fall with 4:44 remaining in the quarter, but eventually walked to the locker room before the quarter ended.

He didn't exit the locker room, and the 76ers announced at halftime that he wouldn't return, citing a sore right knee. He underwent an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the injury.

Will Embiid's potential absence impact series?

The Wizards won Monday's game to fend off a series sweep. The teams will play Game 5 on Wednesday in Philadelphia with the 76ers holding a 3-1 lead. The 76ers won the first three games of the series with Embiid in the lineup as the MVP finalist averaged 29.3 points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes per game.

The Wizards outscored the 76ers, 94-83 in the final three quarters of Monday's 122-114 win after Embiid left the court. The 76ers remain a -5000 betting favorite to win the series despite Embiid's injury.
