Bayern Munich have made initial enquiries over a potential transfer for Tottenham star Harry Kane, according to reports.

The England international pushed hard for a transfer last summer, with Manchester City making a bid for him, before he eventually conceded defeat and stayed in north London.

There have been no rumours of discontent since but there has been speculation that Bayern Munich could attempt to sign him with Robert Lewandowski joining Barcelona.

Transfer gossip: Pavard problem for Man Utd; Chelsea, Spurs eye Newcastle star

Kane has scored 248 goals in 386 matches over his 11 seasons at Tottenham and you can see why Bayern think he would be a good option to replace Lewandowski’s ridiculous record of 344 goals in 375 appearances.

And now Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that Bayern Munich’s interest in Kane is real with the German revealing the club’s ‘transfer strategy’.

Kane still has two years left on his contract at Spurs which means Tottenham are still in the driving seat when it comes to deciding the England captain’s future.

Bayern Munich have ‘already obtained information from Kane’s environment in London as to whether a move to FC Bayern for 2023 is an option’ but they are currently ‘prohibited from official negotiations’ with Tottenham.

So far Bayern have been told ‘no’ with Tottenham attempting to renew his contract beyond 2024 with a transfer to the Bavarians ‘dead’ if his happens.

Bayern want Kane to be the ‘next top international star’ to sign for the Bundesliga club after they signed Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt this summer.

Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol reckons a transfer to Bayern would be a “no-brainer” for Kane as it guarantees silverware.

“If Conte decides to leave at the end of the season then if you are Harry Kane it is a no-brainer to go to Bayern Munich,” Nicol said on ESPN.

“Why not [for Harry Kane]? Guaranteed you win the Bundesliga, win a title.”

But former Premier League striker Noel Whelan doesn’t think it’s “as an exciting proposition” as a move to Manchester City would’ve been for the Tottenham star.

Whelan told Football Insider: “I just don’t think it’s as an exciting proposition as moving to Man City was, put it that way.

“I’m sure he’d like to stay in the Premier League if he is to move at all – and move to a club capable of winning the league and Champions League.

“He’ll be flattered by the interest from Bayern – but I just can’t see him jumping out of his seat to go.”
