Former Carlisle United No2 Lee Dykes has caught the eye of Manchester United, according to reports.

The ex-Blues assistant has impressed with his work as recruitment boss at Premier League club Brentford.

And that has seen Dykes considered for a similar role at Old Trafford.

However, the prospects of the former Brunton Park man moving to Man Utd have now been played down.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported today that a switch for Dykes was now "unlikely" despite the Red Devils' interest.

"He's expected to stay at Brentford as they strongly want to keep him at the club," Romano wrote.

Dykes has been with Brentford for the last three years and has played a key part in their rise to the top flight.

He was with the Blues under Keith Curle's regime as recruitment boss and joint assistant manager before later joining Bury.

Former Liverpool man Michael Edwards and Middlesbrough’s head of football Kieron Scott are also reportedly of interest to Man Utd.
