Reports: Packers bringing back former CB Williams

The Green Bay Packers will bring cornerback Tramon Williams back for his second stint with the team on a two-year deal, according to multiple reports Thursday.

Williams, who turned 35 last Friday, played eight seasons with the Packers after joining them as an undrafted free agent in November of 2006, appearing in 127 games (99 starts) and intercepting 28 passes. He tallied career highs of six interceptions and 20 passes defensed in 2010, earning his only Pro Bowl appearance.

Williams left Green Bay for two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before playing for the Arizona Cardinals in 2017, finishing with two interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 13 games (nine starts).

The Packers needed depth at cornerback after trading former first-round pick Damarious Randall to the Browns two weeks ago. Veteran corner Davon House, who returned to the Packers last season after a stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, remains a free agent. Elsewhere in the secondary, safety Morgan Burnett departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers via free agency.
