A HEREFORD man has been handed a restraining order by a court after sending a nasty message to a woman.

Jack Sims entered a guilty plea to one count of sending an offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing message by a public communication network when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 29-year-old defendant had sent a message that was of a grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing character in Herefordshire on September 19 last year.

Sims, who is of Hylidae Road in Hereford, was handed a 12-month restraining order banning him from directly or indirectly contacting the victim or going within 100 metres of their address.

He was fined £292 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when deciding on the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135.
