Reuell Walters attracts Rangers transfer interest as Philippe Clement plots swoop for Arsenal man

Rangers are reportedly keen on signing outgoing Arsenal defender Reuell Walters this summer.

The 19-year-old is out of contract at the Emirates and set to leave after snubbing the offer of a new contract. Walters has been on the bench a number of times for Mikel Arteta's side but is yet to make his debut, wants first-team football and will move on in search of that.

The Ibrox side are looking to lure the pacey defender north, according to the Scotsman. He can play at centre back and right back and Gers' interest comes amid a big rebuilding job for Philippe Clement. John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin were confirmed to be leaving at the weekend while many of the club's defenders, including captain James Tavernier and Connor Goldson, have been linked with moves away.

It's believed Sheffield United attempted to sign him on loan last season while Rangers are likely to face competition for his signature from England and Germany, where he has family links. Arsenal will be due training compensation from whoever wins the race for the player.

Walters recently said his goodbyes to the Gunners and was given well wishes by Declan Rice and William Saliba, while Oleksandr Zinchenko publicly sang his praises. He said: I like so much centre-back Reuell. I think the qualities he has, he is aggressive.

"I swear to God, one time he pushed Gabriel Jesus in a shoulder-to-shoulder. It is not easy to push Gabriel because he is very strong, and he was confident on the ball afterwards, he kept the ball well and passed. Wow. He impresses me I think the most."
