Riding 18-Fight Winning Streak, Jimmie Rivera Wants Top 10 Opponent Next

Marlon Moraes vs. Jimmie Rivera Expected to Headline UFC Fight Night in Utica

Rising bantamweight Jimmie Rivera isn’t your run-of-the-mill prospect. He made his UFC debut in July 2015 riding a 15-fight winning streak.

He’s fought three times inside the famed octagon since arriving in the fight promotion after previously competing in such organizations as Bellator MMA, World Series of Fighting, Ring of Combat, and King of the Cage.

Rivera picked up the biggest win of his career on Saturday when he defeated number 14-ranked Iuri Alcantara at UFC on FOX 18 by unanimous decision. After earning his first win over a top 15 opponent, Rivera is ready to face someone inside the top 10.

“I’m hoping to fight someone in the top ten and keep working my way up, keep climbing the ladder,” he said during the event’s post-fight press conference.

The win over Alcantara should move Rivera into the rankings, and he intends on continuing his climb up the UFC 135-pound ladder.

“Iuri was an unbelievable opponent, a tough opponent. I’m hoping my next opponent is someone in the top ten and keep going up,” he said.
