India sealed a five-wicket victory at Old Trafford on Sunday to claim a 2-1 win in their three-match ODI series against England. Rishabh Pant shone for India with an unbeaten century in the immense heat, hitting 16 fours and two sixes en route to his 125. Having won the toss, India opted to bowl first, and despite Jason Roy opening with 41 from 31, the 31-year-old was left stranded by Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root, who both fell for ducks. Ben Stokes managed 27 to calm India's momentum, and Jos Buttler entered the fray and top-scored for the hosts with 60 from 80.

Moeen Ali contributed with 34 and Craig Overton chipped in with 32 to set India a total of 259. England's early assault started brightly, with Reece Topley once again stealing the headlines by claiming the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli to leave India sweating on 38 for three. However, that led to the introduction of Pant, who put on a startling display in front of a packed out Old Trafford. Buttler was given a golden stumping chance to reprieve Pant on 18, but England's captain was late to react.

Pant was eventually joined by Hardik Panya in the afternoon sun, and the pair went from strength to strength to combine for 133. Bryndon Carse eventually dismissed Pynda, but it didn't dishearten Pant, who went on to seal the victory alongside Ravindra Jadeja.
