James Bentley eyeing up NRL move

Leeds back-rower and Ireland international James Bentley wants a move to the NRL. (World Wide of Sports)

Bentley, 25, made headlines earlier this week for an alleged brawl with England international Victor Radley.

He has made 61 Super League appearances across stints with St Helens and the Rhinos, where he has one year remaining on his contract.

Courtney Winfield-Hill retires

A former cricketer, she won two Challenge Cups and led Leeds to a second Super League title in September. The 35-year-old also won the Woman of Steel in 2019. 

She hangs up the boot following England’s World Cup campaign, having been knocked out in the semi-finals.

England internationals confirmed

England’s men and women will return to action in April in a double header against France, to be held at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.

A break has been arranged in the domestic season to enable the fixtures to take place on Saturday April 29, with the women kicking off at 2pm and the men at 4.30pm.

Italy international makes Championship move

Halifax Panthers have announced the signing of Italy international Ryan King on a two-year deal. The 25-year-old departed Whitehaven at the end of the 2022 season, having made the switch originally in 2021.

Former Hull KR outside-back lands Castleford contract

Former Hull KR youngster Elliot Wallis has been promoted to Castleford’s first team for the 2023 Super League season.

He made his debut Hull KR at just 17 in the Challenge Cup in May 2018, before making his Super League debut that same month.

The 22-year-old took a break from the sport in 2021, before joining Castleford’s Reserves side.

Tuimavave on Samoan heritage

Tuimavave, 30, represented Samoa three times between 2013 and 2015. He told hullfc.com: “It’s amazing that the team has got this far in the tournament and it makes me really proud of my Samoan heritage.

“I’ve seen videos of people parading the streets in New Zealand and Samoa, celebrating the achievement of reaching the Final. It shows you how much this means to people.”
