Jason Robinson disappointed with Jamaica’s World Cup preparations

Jamaica’s joint operations manager Jason Robinson has admitted he is frustrated at the fact Jamaica will go into the World Cup without a warm up game. (Rugby League Live).

Robinson told Rugby League Live: “The plan was to build on last year’s games and get a few more in ahead of the World Cup.

“But the games that we were looking to set up, unfortunately we couldn’t get them to go ahead, which does put you on the back foot because our preparation has been hindered.”

Ellis Longstaff out to prove himself at Hull FC

On loan Hull forward Ellis Longstaff has said he wants to prove himself there after signing on loan from Warrington. (Mirror).

Longstaff told the Mirror: “I’m really pleased. I just wanted some game-time to prove myself and show what I can do. I’m thankful to Brett (Hodgson) for giving me that opportunity. It was special to be involved at Magic in Newcastle, especially in a Hull derby. The atmosphere is something you dream of.”

Former Super League and NRL player takes new New York job

Former London, Catalans and Manly outside back Ben Farrar has been named player/coach of New York Rugby League.

“I am honoured to be announced head coach/player of the NY rugby league team. It is a position of great significance and one I am honoured to be appointed to” Farrar said.

Warrington youngsters climb Mount Snowden for charity

Warrington Wolves’ academy players have climbed Mount Snowden, raising £1,000 for the Wolves’ Charitable Foundation, and Reverse Rett.

Academy coach Richard Marshall said: “What a fabulous day and great experience for everyone. Massive thanks to Squadbuilder for their support in sponsoring the day. Sincere thanks to the Village for feeding the squad and to Brunch in Culcheth for the delicious flapjacks. Donations for the two charities now exceed £2000 – an amazing amount for the chosen charities.”

Paul McShane on World Cup mindset

Castleford and England hooker Paul McShane has said England’s only mindset approaching the World Cup was winning it.

He told the Love Rugby League podcast: “Our only mindset is about winning the World Cup, there is no other thought process going into it. Our only thought is winning it and making history.

“Critics can say we have no chance. But the coaches work hard and as a group of players we will just go after that task with the determination to win it.”
