As I’m the man on form in the WTCC at the moment, I thought it would be fitting to send out a warning to some of my fellow competitors.
So this week I’ve been on Twitter raising the stakes in the online banter.
I dropped a note to Tiago Monteiro and Tom Coronel with a simple message: bring your ‘A’ game to the Algarve boys, you’re going to need it!
I’m not joking either. I had one of the best race weekends of my life last time out in Austria, and I’m chomping at the bit to get back on-track.
It’s another high-speed track that’s tailor-made for the Chevrolet Cruze.
I’m really looking forward to getting out there and putting my foot down.
Hopefully I’ll secure another strong points haul to claw back the eight-point gap between me and standings leader Yvan Muller.
A great start would be another pole position to follow up my first of the year in Salzburg.
Regardless of what happens in qualifying though, it’ll be another weekend of tight racing.
Mere seconds have separated the winners in the last few races; it couldn’t be any closer out there at the moment.
But as you all know I love a challenge, and I’m having a great time!
An added factor this weekend will be tyre management as eight cars suffered punctures in the last race at Salzburg.
It’s another thing that adds to the unpredictability of the WTCC. Absolutely anybody can win out there.
With half of the season still to come, that makes it game-on in the title race.
A couple of strong results this weekend will do my chances no harm at all.
Enjoy the racing on Eurosport, and I’ll be back next week to review the action.
Cross your fingers for me!
