Robbie Keane agrees new deal to stay at LA Galaxy

Robbie keane is set to see out his playing career in America after agreeing a new contract with the LA Galaxy.

The Republic of Ireland captain, 33, has verbally agreed an extension that will see him stay in the MLS for up to three years.

“I’m enjoying my football there and the club has been very good to me,” he told Sky Sports.

As soon as you hit that 30 age mark in football, people are reluctant to give you contracts but this will be the third contract I’ve signed since I’ve been there and it shows the faith they have in me.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2011, Keane has won two championship titles with the Galaxy.

But Bruce Arena’s side were denied their shot at a historic ‘three-peat’ when they lost to Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Keane is expected to start up front against Latvia tomorrow in Martin O’Neill’s first game as Ireland manager.
