Robbie Savage has issued his verdict on the red card shown to Marcus Rashford during Manchester United's Champions League clash with Copenhagen. Erik ten Hag's men raced into a two-goal lead in Denmar, with Rasmus Hojlund netting twice, but a red card decision turned the game on its head.

Rashford overstepped and planted his studs high on the leg of his opponent, leading to a red card decision, and United folded from there, albeit it is only half-time at time of writing. But before half-time, Copenhagen drew level thanks to a goal from Mohamed Elyounoussi, who unexpectedly returned from injury for this one, and a double handball between Raphael Vs ane and Harry Maguire gave Diogo Goncalves the chance to equalise from the spot - and he took it.

Rashford protested his innocence after the red card was shown, but United academy graduate turned pudit and commentator Savage believes the decision was the right one.

"That for me is a red card," he said on the TNT Sports commentary. "Initially I thought he just turned, but I think that is a red card. When you see it from that other angle - he has gone to protect the ball, and by doing that he has stamped on his shin and that is 100% a red card."A win could be crucial for United's hopes of progressing, given they had only won one of their three games heading into this fixture, while they still have Galatasaray and Bayern Munich to play.
