Roberto Firmino responds to 'idiot' Sergio Ramos' mocking of reaction to Liverpool's Champions League final loss

Roberto Firmino has responded after "idiot" Sergio Ramos used him to mock the reaction to Liverpool's Champions League final defeat.

The Real Madrid captain was at the heart of several talking points in Kiev, where his side triumphed 3-1 to be crowned European champions for the third successive year.

Ramos hauled Mohamed Salah to the floor during the first half which caused the Egyptian to leave the pitch in tears with a shoulder injury – something which brought accusations of a deliberate move to hurt Liverpool’s leading scorer, a petition to see him punished by football’s authorities as well as the threat of a law suit.

He also caught the Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius with his arm less than three minutes before Karius made a major error which led to Real’s first goal, something which has subsequently been linked to a concussion the German keeper is said to have suffered during the match.

“Bloody hell, they’ve given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing," he said on Tuesday. “I didn’t want to speak because everything is magnified. I see the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold.

"After the goalkeeper said that I dazed him with a clash with me I am only missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat."

Speaking ahead of Brazil's pre-World Cup friendly with Austria Firmino chose to keep his thoughts mostly to himself.

"I prefer not to make any comments," he said. "I think he has a view because he was the champion but I thought he was an idiot for what he said but that's okay."

Firmino could be joined at Anfield next season by Selecao teammate Alisson with the Reds actively pursuing a new goalkeeper this summer.

The Roma man has impressed this season and Firmino says he would be delighted to see him make the move.

"Sometimes I talk to him about it and have a joke with him, saying 'you should come to Liverpool'," he said.

"His agent is sorting his future but it wouldn't be a bad thing to have him here at Liverpool."
