Rodriguez eyes top spot in Lombardia

Joaquim Rodriguez will look to claim top spot in the UCI World Tour Ranking when he leads Katusha in the Giro di Lombardia on Saturday.

Rodriguez, who finished third in the Vuelta a Espana behind Spanish compatriots Alberto Contador and Alejandro Valverde, is nine points behind Briton Bradley Wiggins in the standings.

The winner will take 100 points, with 80 for second, 70 for third then 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 and 4 down to a 10th-place finish.

'Purito' Rodriguez finished third in the Italian classic last year.
