Leeds Head Coach Rohan Smith was pleased of the attitude his players showed during their 62-16 win over Hull.

The Rhinos had started quickly with tries from Mikolaj Oledzki and Ash Handley, but quickfire tries from Darnell McIntosh and Danny Houghton pulled the Black and Whites back in it. A second from Handley and another from Kruise Leeming put Leeds back into a comfortable position.

Chris Satae had then pulled another back for Hull, before Leeds then ran riot, running in seven unanswered tries.

Smith was happy with the way his side had responded to things going against them in the game.

Smith says the scoreboard looked nice

“It was an important game for us to play well in and I really liked how we started,” said Smith.

“I was particularly happy with how we regrouped after a few things went their way, which probably wasn’t reflective of the flow of the game. In the end we strung a few plays together and the scoreboard looks nice.”

Despite dominating the first half, two quick Hull tries ensured they were still in touching distance at half time, but the Leeds boss never lost confidence in his team’s ability to go on with the job.

“I was very confident at half time. Our process was strong and we were playing well,” he explained.

“Chris Satae had a big impact on the game, but I was very confident we could respond and play well.”

Praise for Ash Handley

Winger Ash Handley helped himself to five tries and was praised by his coach after the game.

“He’s a top-end finisher and it’s underestimated how hard he carries the ball in yardage. He’s a great team guy, so it’s nice to see a winger get the rewards in the form of scoring tries,” he added.
