Man Utd are not interested in signing Porto striker Evanilson and have not made a bid for the player, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian made 38 appearances for the Portuguese champions last season in all competitions with the striker contributing 14 goals and four assists.

Evanilson was linked to United’s arch-rivals Liverpool in 2019 before he moved to Porto from Brazilian side Tombense for €8.8m in 2020.

Transfer gossip: Manchester United need £160m-plus for three summer targets

Anthony Martial’s future at Man Utd remains uncertain, while Edinson Cavani is leaving on a free transfer this summer and Mason Greenwood is currently suspended, which means the Red Devils will be on the lookout for a new striker this summer.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claimed on Monday that Man Utd had made a €65m (£56m) bid, which was rejected, with Porto wanting ‘closer’ to €80m (£69m) for his services.

But Romano today insists that Man Utd ‘have not submitted any bid to FC Porto for Brazilian striker Evanilson, despite rumours of a €70m proposal turned down’.

The Italian journalist added that ‘he’s not in Man United list as of today’ and that he is ‘not a topic’ for new Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag, while he also reveals that Ajax winger Antony has been ‘discussed internally’.

One forward likely to be at Old Trafford next season is Marcus Rashford, despite his poor campaign in front of goal that saw him score just four goals.

He was left out of the team under former interim boss Ralf Rangnick towards the end of the season and ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell thinks he now has to “suck it up” and come back stronger next term.

Campbell told Football Insider: “The way Rashford’s season went, it was very disappointing. To be left out of the team time after time was harsh. As any good pro does, you suck it up and get your work done. You come back stronger the following season.

“By all intent and purposes, that is what he is looking to do. He wants to be fitter and stronger physically next season. He has a new manager to impress so it is the right thing to do. That is for sure.”
