Romano shares bombshell update on Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle pursuit of top Spanish talent
Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are reportedly among a number of European clubs chasing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.
The 20-year-old is considered one of the most exciting young prospects in Spain, after putting in some fine performances for his club this season.
Veiga could prove to be an excellent long-term investment for one of the Premier League trio, so it will be interesting to see if they push to seal a deal.
This is according to AS, who claim that Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle have all registered an interest in the Spaniard, with the Tynesiders sending scouts to watch Veiga two weeks ago.
They also note that Veiga did not have a senior squad number before January, which shows how much he has progressed in a short space of time.
So far, the youngster has made 22 appearances for Celta Vigo this season, scoring eight goals and making three assists, giving him an impressive average of 0.5 goal contributions per match.
The Spanish club are reluctant to sell one of their brightest talents, but it is believed that a bid of around €30m (£26.4m) would be enough to sign the midfielder.

Romano casts doubt on Veiga links
However, reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has played down rumours linking Veiga with a summer switch to the Premier League.
Writing for CaughtOffside, he said: “Some Arsenal fans have asked me about links with Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga.
“However, I think it’s way too early before linking him with big clubs like this.
“I’m told four or five top clubs scouts are monitoring him as Veiga is a top talent and he’s doing great in La Liga, but it’s something for the future, not present.”
Indeed, Veiga is still clearly lacking experience, but if he continues on his current trajectory looks set to become a world-class player in the future.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente is thought to be keeping tabs on the youngster and could call him up to the senior squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Additionally, Celta Vigo boss Carlos Carvalhal has declared that Veiga is destined for great things.
“He is intelligent, very strong and knows how to reach finishing zones,” said the former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea manager.
“He will go very high in the world of football.”
Despite Romano’s update, the fact that Newcastle have sent scouts to watch Veiga recently suggests that a summer bid is still possible.
The Tynesiders are arguably most in need of midfield recruits, with Bruno Guimaraes being linked with a shock summer move to Real Madrid on Monday.
Indeed, if Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle don’t meet Celta Vigo’s price tag of £26.4m this summer, they could live to regret it, as Veiga may be worth a lot more if he continues with his current form.
