Cristiano Ronaldo is still pushing hard to leave Man Utd with the Portugal international telling the Red Devils he has an offer from a rival club, according to reports.

The Portugal international is still looking to engineer a move away from Old Trafford this summer as he searches for Champions League football.

Man Utd failed in their attempts to finish in the top four of the Premier League, coming sixth, 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham and 35 points behind champions Man City.

Ronaldo and Barcelona are starting to engender some sympathy for Man Utd

Ronaldo met up with Ten Hag and other Man Utd chiefs on Tuesday as they looked for a resolution to the issue but both parties left with little resolved.

It is understood that United’s not far sale stance is still the same, while Ronaldo is still asking to leave if they receive a ‘satisfactory’ offer for his services.

A report on Wednesday insisted that talks between the two parties had ‘failed’ and that Ronaldo ‘wants to be released’ despite there being ‘zero enquiries’ for him.

But The Sun now claim on Friday that Ronaldo has ‘urged Manchester United to name their price so he can trigger a move that is already on the table’.

The report adds that Ronaldo ‘begs’ Man Utd to ‘slap a transfer fee on his head’ to get ‘a live offer’ over the line ahead of the new season.

It is understood that the Red Devils have ‘refused’ and told the 37-year-old that he will be staying after they ‘balked at the suggestion they should simply release him on a free transfer because of what was described as his “loyalty” to the club’.

And former Scotland manager Alex McLeish can’t believe what’s going on at Man Utd with the fans deserving “some clarity” over the Ronaldo situation.

McLeish told Football Insider: “What the hell is happening at United? Will he stay or will he go? That has been the story all summer. The smart money was on him staying but now this is a complete turn up for the books.

“Who are the people saying this? When you hear stories saying ‘they say he wants to leave’, who are ‘they’? Ronaldo, come and tell us.

“Let’s get some clarity here for Man United fans. The fans will be beside themselves waiting on this new season to see if United have turned a corner.

“You need to do a pre-season as well. Ronaldo can work out in the gym as much as he wants but there is nothing like being out there on the field.

“Of course, a lot of pre-season is about strategy and the coach organising his team. Ronaldo won’t have had that.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how they perform and what they have learned in pre-season but at the moment United look a wee bit unravelled.”
