Ronaldo repeat for Man Utd on cards with Ten Hag told attacker has ‘played his last game’ for club
Erik ten Hag has been told that one of Manchester United’s forward options has seemingly played his last game for the club as he prepares to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The Red Devils have enjoyed something of a major resurgence under the Dutchman since his appointment last summer. And with the Carabao Cup already in the bag, the club still have trophy hopes in two more competitions this season.
In addition, they are also extremely well placed to secure a place in the top four of the Premier League. To that end, a return to Champions League football will be very welcome indeed at Old Trafford.
Truth be told, Ten Hag’s opening season has gone better than perhaps even he ever envisaged.
And the Dutchman’s no-nonsense approach has certainly shaken the club out of its malaise.
He has done so too by showing he has not afraid of making big decisions. And the way he has handled the Cristiano Ronaldo situation in particular has earned plenty of admirers.
Now Ten Hag is being backed to make another big call over another problematic forward in Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman has been at Old Trafford since summer 2015 when he arrived in a deal rising to £58m from Monaco.
However, aside from his first season and then a good campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019/20, he has rarely hit the heights.
Now with his deal due to expire this summer, Martial appears unlikely to be offered an extension.
Martial has featured in just 14 games in all competitions this season with injuries slowing his progress.

Martial told he has played his last game for Man Utd
His last appearance for the Red Devils came on January 14 as Man City were beaten 2-1.
As a result, former United defender Paul Parker reckons the 27-year-old is unlikely to find a route back into Ten Hag’s plans.
Per the Manchester Evening News, Martial’s return date is as yet unknown. And with the Frenchman entering free agent status in just four months, Parker says he’s played his last game for the club.
“I think the prognosis for Anthony Martial is that he has played his last game for Man United. He can’t play through a pain barrier and that has caused Erik ten Hag now doesn’t trust him anymore, which makes sense. There is no reason to trust Martial,” Parker told bettors.
“So, I don’t think that we will ever see Martial playing for Man United again. I don’t think Erik ten Hag is that concerned about it because Martial doesn’t fit into his way of playing.”
‘Time is up for Man Utd star’
Drawing comparisons to the Ronaldo situation, Parker claims Ten Hag is not afraid of telling certain players when their time is up.
“Also, he doesn’t deserve to play again for Man United. He hasn’t taken his chances and he is showing no consistency at all,” Parker added.
“Everyone was hyping him up when he arrived but his time is up now. He has never enjoyed his time at Man United and now he has to move on.
“If you look at the way ten Hag has been with certain players… Look at Lingard, look at Pogba, look at Ronaldo, Martial is going to go. He’s not the player he once was. Erik ten Hag wants players that he hasn’t got to ask to work hard.
“The players he’s got at the moment are winners. Winning means something. They show emotion. I don’t see that in Martial so I don’t think he’s a good fit.”
Despite Ten Hag’s likely decision to get rid of Martial, the forward is unlikely to be short of options this summer.
He will likely attract attention from clubs in Spain, Italy and France. And the 30-times capped France attacker will hope his next move can get his career back on track.
