Ronda Rousey Debuts in Top 10 of Forbes List of Highest-Paid Female Athletes

The Magnitude of Ronda Rousey’s Fame Truly Revealed After Loss to Holly Holm

Every which way you look, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is garnering accolades. Her most recent is cracking the Top 10 of the Forbes list of the Highest-Paid Female Athletes in the World for 2015.

Though she has a long way to go to catch the likes of Maria Sharipova, who has topped the list for 11 years running and heads it this year at $29.2 million in total earnings, Rousey landed the No. 8 spot with total earnings of $6.5 million, according to Forbes. She was the lone newcomer to the Top 10, which is dominated by tennis, which captured seven of the 10 spots.

Rousey's $6.5 million is broken down into $3 million in earnings for her fights and $3.5 million in endorsements. Her endorsements include Reebok, Metro PCS, Monster headphones, Buffalo David Bitton, and Carl’s Jr.

Of course, the earnings are only her MMA-related revenue. Rousey has been busy outside of MMA as well, as Forbes notes that she has landed roles in three feature films over the past 12 months, co-authored a best-selling book, and landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated, amongst numerous other ventures.

She'll likely continue her ascension up the list, as her star continues to rise in mixed martial arts as well. Rousey's recent headlining stint at UFC 190 set all kinds of records for the UFC in social media tracking and became the promotion's top pay-per-view thus far in 2015, even besting the promotion's UFC 189 summer blockbuster.
