Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano Was Pushed Back Because of a Back Injury

A back injury is to blame for the delay in the UFC women's title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Cat Zingano.

According to a report from UFC Tonight, Zingano would not have been ready for the original Jan. 3 fight date in Las Vegas due to her ailing back. The Nevada Athletic Commission gave Zingano a six-month suspension following her win on Sept. 27, which forced the UFC to push the fight back to Feb. 28 at UFC 184.

Rousey and Zingano were first going to be the co-main event to Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier at UFC 182. When the bout was moved, the two top female bantamweights c0-main event status stayed the same, as the two were picked as second fiddle to Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort in Los Angeles.

Rousey said she wasn't happy about the move, she revealed on The MMA Hour, but added that she just shows up to fight when the UFC tells her.
