Ross McCormack says Rangers ghosted him as striker reveals Steven Gerrard transfer return offer
Ross McCormack has revealed he came close to signing on loan for Rangers under Steven Gerrard - but claims the Ibrox club started ignoring his agent's calls.
The former Scotland striker had a turbulent time at Aston Villa after signing for a whopping £12million but failed to live up to the price tag as the club as a whole struggled. McCormack had fall outs with manager Steve Bruce who publicly accused him of repeatedly missing training, with the player later insisting it only happened once due to a faulty electric gate at his house.
In the January, just months after signing, he joined Nottingham Forest on loan and then there was another temporary switch for the 2017/18 season to Melbourne City. But the 38-year-old claims he was close to re-joining Gers, where he was an academy graduate, before that.

But just as he was due up in Glasgow for his medical, the club began to ghost him and his agent. Speaking on Open Goal, he was asked if the move to Australia was due to no clubs in the UK wanting to take him, or because he wanted to get away.
And he explained: "A bit of both. The only other move at that period of time was I was going to go to Rangers on a season-long loan with Steven Gerrard. And then the day I was meant to go and do the medical and sign, they just stopped answering the phone to my agent.
"I don't know (why). I've got an idea but I'll probably keep it to myself. I was literally going into Aston Villa to train with the under-16s or whatever it was and then up to Glasgow to do a medical, but then they didn't answer the phone."
