Roy Keane labels Harry Maguire ‘embarrassing’ and a ‘disgrace’ following England celebration

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has labeled Harry Maguire as a “disgrace”.

The England centre-back has attracted his fair share of criticism this season during a poor start at club level, though gestured to his ears after scoring against Albania at Wembley on Friday night to suggest he was blocking out the noise.

Keane, who has frequently lamented Maguire’s performances, was in attendance for ITV Sport as part of their coverage team and was asked at half-time what he thought of Maguire’s celebration.

“He obviously puts his hands to ears [to] like shut the critics up but I think that’s embarrassing, he’s been a disgrace the last few months for Man Utd,” said Keane at half-time.

“He thinks if he scores, he’s going to shut his critics up - embarrassing.”

Ian Wright then added: “You just don’t need to do it.

“It’s something I probably would have done but, if you look at it now, you don’t need to do that because you’ve got a lot of football to play.”

England romped to a 5-0 lead at half-time thanks to goals from Maguire, Jordan Henderson and a hat-trick for Harry Kane in their game at Wembley of 2021.
