Inspiral is shorter than carpet odds (3/1) for the Coronation Stakes at Ascot on Friday June 17 and could be the real thing under Frankie Dettori. The unbeaten filly faces off against the winners of the English and French 1000 Guineas in a Group 1 laced with real quality.

Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, the Frankel filly had a stop-start preparation for the new campaign and it will be her first start in seven months.

Inspiral won on debut at HQ in June 2021 seeing off Ardbraccan by one and a half lengths at Newmarket. She then went to Sandown where she extended to a three and half lengths victory over seven furlongs.

Next came the step up to a mile, which the filly handled with aplomb, putting three and three quarter lengths between herself and Ralph Beckett's Prosperous Voyage, who re-opposes in the Coronation Stakes.

Inspiral then beat Prosperous Voyage again, readily taking the bet365 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket in October of last year.

At Ascot on Friday she faces Newmarket 1000 Guineas winner Cachet, trained by George Boughey and also the French equivalent in Mangoustine, sent over the Channel by Mikel Delzangles Connections of Homeless Songs, who took the Irish 1000 Guineas, decided to swerve the Coronation Stakes after concerns about the drying ground. American raiders Spendarella, Slipstream and Pizza Bianca do take their chance however and are part of a stellar international cast that also includes Discoveries, Honey Girl and Tenebrism from Ireland.

Meanwhile, Perfect Power leads a field of 20 for the six furlong Commonwealth Cup with Richard Fahey's charge moving back in trip after finishing a creditible seventh in the 2000 Guineas.

El Caballo is on a seven timer for Karl Burke and is pushing for favouritism while Hugo Palmer is looking to score for Michael Owen's stables with the consistenty tasty Flaming Rib.

David Lougnane's useful Go Bears Go will add stiff competition as will course and distance winner Ehraz for Shadwell Estates.

William Haggas' Tiber Flow could be an intersting outsider, not finishing out of the top five in any of his five career races. Roger Varian's Rizg is not only hard to pronounce but the clear outsider.
