Expect plenty of tears Monday as the Kansas City Royals honor the lateYordano Ventura before their home opener.
The popular Royals pitcher was killed in a car accident Jan. 22 in the Dominican Republic, and Ventura'sfamily,teammates and fans are stil coming to grips with his loss at age 25.
"It will be emotional," first basemanEric Hosmer told MLB.com."I think everyone will react differently. It will hit us all differently."
After the special pre-game ceremony honoring Ventura, his mother,Marisol Hernandez,will throw out the first pitch.
Pitcher Chris Young knows the ceremony will be emotional for everyone in the Kaufman Stadium.
"Everyone grieves differently," Young told MLB.com."There are no guidelines to get through it, no playbook. But at least we'll be together as a team with our fans."
