Rudy Gestede Breaks Curse of Most Consecutive Premier League Games Without a Win

Middlesbrough's hard-fought 1-0 win over Sunderland on Wednesday night broke a remarkable curse for Rudy Gestede. The former Aston Villa forward had gone 43 consecutive games without a win in the Premier League.

The French-born Benin international came on as a substitute for Boro in the 76th minute of the game. He never looked like getting on the score sheet himself but the win was a much needed one for both him and Middlesbrough as they look to vacate the relegation zone.

The last time Gestede appeared for a winning Premier League side was back in September 2015, when he came on as substitute for Aston Villa to make his debut and headed in the winning goal against Bournemouth.

Aston Villa were relegated after finishing the s rock bottom with a huge 17 points between them and Norwich in 19th place.

After finally being on the winning side in the Premier League, the 29-year-old can concentrate on helping his team avoid relegation back into the Championship next season. They currently find themselves in 19th place, six points behind Hull and safety
