Rovers move up to second as a result of the win, which featured tries from Andy Ellis, debutant Frankie Mariano, Andy Kain, Jonny Hepworth, James Lockwood, Liam Finn and Greg Worthington.

Finn kicked six goals with Dane Manning, Ben Heaton and Rob Worrincy responding for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Sheffield are third in the ladder after a 28-18 win at Keighley. Former St Helens youngster Tom Armstrong scored twice for Mark Aston's men, who also boasted tries from Dom Brambani, Scott Turner and Misi Taulapapa.

Batley started the day in second but ended fourth after a 20-0 whitewash loss at Leigh. Matt Gardner, Sam Hopkins and Ryan Brierly scored the tries for the Cougars.Martyn Ridyard added four goals.

Whitehaven sit in fifth after Doncaster's trip to Cumbria ended in a 24-14 loss. The home side's scores came from Jessie Joe Parker, Jamie Rooney, Scott McAvoy and Craig Calvert.

In West Yorkshire, Hunslet had the job of bringing York back down to earth after their cup exploits last week and did so with a 26-12 success. The City Knights beat Toulouse to set up a meeting with Catalan but had just two tries to show for their efforts as Nat Browne and Liam Kent touched down.

Swinton are second bottom after a heavy 36-16 loss at Barrow. The home team scored seven tries in total, with Liam Finch, Liam Campbell, Kurt Haggerty, Andrew Dawson, Aaron Low, Daniel Toal and Mal Wiper going in.

The day's other game saw Brett Carter's one-man show give Workington an 18-16 win at Dewsbury.

Bradford loanee James Donaldson, Wakefield's Lucas Walshaw and Kieran Hyde had scored for the home side, but Jason Mossop and Jamie Acton kept Workington in it. Carter then scored with a minute left and added a third conversion to win the day.
