The City Reds, whose takeover by millionaire racehorse owner Marwan Koukash is set to be confirmed at a press conference on Thursday, have snapped up former Castleford utility back Ryan McGoldrick and taken Warrington winger Rhys Williams on a month's loan.
McGoldrick, 32, had a brief spell at Hull towards the end of last season after being released by Castleford but was not offered a new contract and joins Salford as a free agent.
"He'll be very useful for the youngsters at our club," said coach Phil Veivers. "He's a quality player who can fill a number of positions."
Wales international Williams, 23, spent two months on loan to Castleford last season before returning to the Wolves, for whom he recently signed a new two-year contract.
McGoldrick and Williams have been named in Veivers' initial 19-man squad, along with 20-year-old full-back Jack Murphy, who has joined the City Reds on a month's loan from Wigan, and former St Helens second rower Andrew Dixon, who will also make his Reds debut.
But former Wigan centre Martin Gleeson, who has agreed a two-year contract with Salford, will miss out on reunion with his old club after picking up a calf injury in training.
"He'll be missing for three or four weeks," said Veivers. "It's a massive blow. "He has been training the house down and I was really looking forward to his first game for us."
The Warriors will give competitive debuts to Blake Green and Scott Taylor, their new signings from Hull KR, while young stand-off Sam Powell, who Veivers also wanted to recruit on loan, is set to make his second Super League appearance.
Second rowers Chris Tuson and Harrison Hansen, as well as prop Epalahame Lauaki, are all ruled out through injury. The match will mark skipper Sean O'Loughlin's 300th appearance for Wigan.
