Stars prospect Denis Guryanov capitalized on a turnover 33 seconds into overtime to lift Russia over Sweden in the bronze medal game at the world junior championships.

Russia, who lost to Finland in overtime in last year’s gold medal game, has now won seven straight medals at the event. Sweden hasn’t won a medal since taking home bronze in 2014.

Wild prospect Kirill Kaprizov opened the scoring for Russia in the second period before Jonathan Dahlen evened things up later in the frame.

Mikhail Vorobyov (Flyers) was named the player of the game for Russia despite an outstanding performance from goaltender Ilya Samsonov (Capitals), who finished with 38 saves. Flames second-rounder Oliver Kylington received the honour for Sweden but didn’t go up to accept his award.
