Russian Fighter Mairbek Taisumov Pulled from UFC 203 After Visa Declined

For the second time this year, Russian fighter Mairbek Taisumov has been forced off of a UFC fight card due to visa issues.

Taisumov posted to Instagram on Friday, saying that he had been pulled from his UFC 203 bout with Nik Lentz, due to his visa being denied.

“Once again my visa application to US was declined. I have no idea why…may be they saving their fighters from me)))Months of preparations and all the work I put in is lost again due to some bureaucracy issues. I want to apologize to my opponent @NickLenz for this and tell him I'm ready to fight with him anywhere outside US.”

UFC officials confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that Taisumov was indeed removed from UFC 203 due to visa issues.

Although he was pulled from the UFC Fight Night 81 fight card slated for Boston in January after being denied a visa, Taisumov fought in Croatia in April, where he defeated Damir Hadžović.

UFC officials also told MMAWeekly.com that a new opponent had already been secured for Lentz, and that an announcement was forthcoming.
