RYAN JACK has no doubt that John Souttar will put his latest injury woes behind him and make a name for himself at Rangers.

Boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed on Friday that Souttar will be out of action until after the World Cup in December after suffering a recurrence of a previous injury.

The 26-year-old has been troubled by Achilles and ankle issues in recent seasons and has made just one appearance since clinching a move from Hearts in the summer.

Jack knows all too well how difficult it can be for players to find themselves on the sidelines after he missed several months of the 55 campaign and the subsequent European Championships.

But the midfielder has backed his Scotland team-mate to get over his latest setback and go on to prove his worth under Van Bronckhorst's guidance in the long run.

Jack said: "I just saw John there before I came in, walking along. He’s in good spirits.

"As a player, I’ve been there myself. He is having a bit of bad luck at the minute. All you can really say is ‘keep your head up and get through your rehab and work hard’.

"John’s got a great mentality. He has bounced back from big injuries before and I’m sure he will do that again because in pre-season he was flying. He looked very good and very strong.

"He will just focus on his rehab and then, hopefully when he comes back, he hits the ground running like he did in pre-season."
