Liverpool have accepted the latest offer from Bayern Munich for the Sadio Mane transfer, according to various reports.

Bayern had previously seen a couple of bids turned down for Liverpool striker Mane. However, their officials flew to England on Friday in order to hold talks with the Premier League side. It appears the outcome has been successful.

First to break the news of Bayern reaching a “total agreement” to sign Mane was Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg. At 2:35pm, he tweeted that it is now a “done deal”.

Plettenburg also revealed that the Bundesliga giants should be taking Mane for less than €40m (£34.3m), even with the inclusion of bonuses.

Other sources have been quick to back up the success of the latest meeting between Bayern and Liverpool. For example, the likes of Fabrizio Romano, The Athletic, BBC and PA are all indicating a deal has been struck.

The Athletic reiterate that Liverpool had been holding out for a fee above £40m. But the BBC, as followed by others, have the specifics regarding the fee.

Their update reveals that Bayern will pay €32m (£27.4m) immediately for the Sadio Mane transfer. They could then add €9m (£7.7m) in bonuses; €6m (£5.1m) will be related to his appearance tallies, while the other €3m (£2.6m) will be determined by team and individual achievements.

Bild claim the work of Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has been decisive in driving down Liverpool’s initial demands for a €40m+€5m package.

With the business sorted between the two clubs, it is now over to Mane to put the finishing touches on the deal.

According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein, he will undergo a medical next week before putting pen to paper on a three-year contract, until 2025.

Sadio Mane transfer brings an end to memorable era

With the imminent departure of Mane, Liverpool’s once-famous front three of him, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will break up.

They should be fine without him, since they still have Salah, Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, while also adding Darwin Nunez recently.

But there will still be emotion at what is the end of an era – not only for Liverpool, but also for Mane in the Premier League.

The former Southampton forward spent eight seasons in English football. During that time, he won six trophies with Liverpool, after memorably scoring the Premier League’s fastest hat-trick during his Southampton days.

Now a new challenge is awaiting the 30-year-old in Germany. He will hope to thrive on the new platform; meanwhile, Liverpool will hope to continue their momentum without him.
