Safety fears halt Shrews game

Safety fears

The Shrews led 1-0 at the time due to a 50th minute goal from James Collins, but when smoke began billowing out of the East Stand at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium, the game was swiftly called off.

Fourth-placed Crawley moved within a point of the automatic promotion places with a 2-1 win at Bradford. Leon Clarke's opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Chris Dagnall, but Gary Alexander fired a 76th minute winner.

Asa Hall's double boosted Oxford's play-off hopes with a 2-0 win at Accrington Stanley, while Gillingham's play-off hopes continued to falter as a Matt Fish own goal handed hosts Burton a 1-0 win which ends the Brewers' recent dismal run.

In the night's other match, Peter Vincenti scored a 43rd minute winner for Aldershot at home to Bristol Rovers which keeps the north Hampshire side's outside hopes of making the play-offs alive.
