Southampton FC Women's Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale claps the supporters after winning the FA Women’s National League Play-Off Final between Southampton FC Women and Wolverhampton Wanderers Women at Edgeley Park.

SAINTS Women completed their pre-season schedule with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Super League outfit Leicester City.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side embarked on a tough series of warm-ups including Scottish Premiership, Championship and top division opposition.

They face Charlton Athletic on the opening day of a debut Championship season on Saturday, August 20, but will go into it off the back of defeat.

The Foxes scored early in the second-half, reacting fastest after an initial shot bounced off the crossbar and into the lurking finisher’s path inside the area.

Goalkeeper Kayla Rendell had produced a number of top stops to keep the Super League side at bay, while Katie Wilkinson and Ella Morris came closest to scoring at the other end.
