SAINTS Women made eight consecutive wins in all competitions by sticking eight past Chichester & Selsey at Snows Stadium without reply, in the National League.

Sophia Pharoah took the lion’s share of the goals with her hattrick, while Shannon Sievwright, Georgie Freeland, Katie Rood, Lucia Kendall and Ciara Watling all got in on the act.

The visitors ended the contest with just nine players, after both goalkeeper Sadie Blakely and Jane Yeates saw red cards – although one was very late in play.

League leaders Ipswich also drew 0-0 with Gillingham, which meant Saints cup the gap from them and the summit to just eight points – with four matches in hand.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side, who are preparing to run out at St Mary’s for a second ever time this weekend when they host Bristol City in the FA Cup, took no time to get started.

Kendall’s superb strike opened inside seven minutes and Freeland added hers moments later. Pharoah had a brace before half-time, and added her third late in the evening.

Sievwright, Rood’s penalty and Watling’s efforts only added to the misery of the visitors.

Spacey-Cale named four changes to the team that claimed victory over Bournemouth in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup on Sunday, to secure their spot in the final of the competition.
