Salido puts down Gutierrez

WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido KO'd Moises Gutierrez in the third round of a 10-round non-title bout in Nayarit, Mexico.

Mexican Salido (39-11-2) dropped Chilean opponent Gutierrez (22-9) with a huge right hand and the latter was unable to beat the count.

"I knew I had to quickly take control of the fight," Salido said. "There is no such thing as a small challenge in this sport.

"I never underestimate my job in the ring."

Veteran Salido is in line to fight number one WBO contender Mikey Garcia next after his fifth straight knockout.

"I've been told I have several options," he added. "One of them in Mikey Garcia on October 20 in Las Vegas on the undercard of [Jorge] Arce - [Nonito] Donaire."
