[ON A BUDGET? HERE ARE SOME PLAYERS WHO WON'T BREAK THE BANK THIS WEEKEND]
‘Must-haves’
Defence
Shkodran Mustafi has settled nicely into the Arsenal side since his £35 million move from Valencia this summer and has helped keep 3 clean sheets so far this season. With a fixture against Stoke this weekend, he has the perfect opportunity to increase this tally and could even be a goal threat with his aerial prowess for corners and set pieces.
Everton’s Leighton Baines showed his cool last week as he slotted home a late penalty against Manchester United. Everton haven’t been the best at keeping clean sheets this season, but this goal may give Baines the confidence he needs to get back to his best and should be one to consider this week.
Midfielders
Swansea are having a tough time of late, but if anyone is to find the back of the net for the Swans it will be Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Icelandic playmaker has recently been playing further forward too, so if you want an out of position player in your fantasy teams, Sigurdsson may be your man.
Forwards
There’s one obvious pick here which is Arsenal’s main man, Alexis Sanchez. With the form that Sanchez is in and a home fixture against Stoke this weekend, he should be in everyone’s teams. Alexis scored a hat-trick and assisted another away to West Ham and with 5 goals in his last 2 games; he is definitely a must-have!
With Sergio Aguero missing due to suspension, it will be up to Kelechi Iheanacho to fill the void. When Aguero has been injured or suspended in the past, Iheanacho has done exactly that, scoring 3 goals and assisting another 3 in the space of 195 minutes so far this season. Callum Wilson is another good option this week against Burnley. Bournemouth will be on a high after last week’s miraculous comeback against Liverpool and they will be sure to continue this form into this weekend’s fixture.
‘Must-nots’
Goalkeeper
Stoke City this week face a rampant Arsenal, who managed to put 5 past West Ham away from home. Although injured Jack Butland’s second in command Lee Grant is often a bargain fantasy football option, he will be up against it this week and is unlikely to keep a clean sheet.
Defence
John Stones is one to avoid. The England defender appears to have a mistake in him and although he shows glimpses of class, he and his City teammates could give away a goal at any point. Until he removes this concern from his game, you should give him a miss.
Midfielders
Since going on loan to Bournemouth, Jack Wilshere really hasn’t shown much to report back to his parent club with. Many thought it was a step down, but the Arsenal loanee hasn’t even managed a single goal or assist in the 13 games he has played!
Another English player that doesn’t live up to his hype is Ross Barkley, who has struggled this season with just 2 goals and an assist in 990 minutes of football. These fantasy football returns (every 330 minutes) are unlikely to increase, as the midfielder hasn’t produced a return in any of his last 4 games.
Forwards
Andre Gray had a terrific start to the Premier League season by Burnley’s standards, scoring and assisting in his first 2 games. However, since his comeback from suspension, he has struggled to find any form at all and should be considered a ‘must-not’!
Another set of forwards which should be avoided are those over at Leicester City. The team have fallen apart this season and are currently in a relegation scrap! This week they face a tough fixture against Manchester City, so surely Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani and co won’t find their form in this of all fixtures, right?
