Saudi Arabia vs Mexico lineups: Confirmed team news, starting XIs, injury latest for World Cup 2022 game today

Mexico take on Saudi Arabia in a must-win World Cup group decider today, with captain Andres Guardado not fit enough to start.

The veteran, who has 179 caps, was forced off in the defeat to Argentina and was in a race to be fit for the key Group C showdown.

Edson Alvarez, the target of a failed transfer bid from Chelsea in the summer, comes straight in as a like-for-like replacement for Guardado.

For Saudi Arabia, there are changes as Abdulelah Al-Malki is suspended after picking up two yellow cards. Captain Salman Al-Faraj and right-back Mohammed Al-Burayk are also out.

Yasir Al-Shahrani is out of the tournament after his horror facial injury in the first game of this World Cup campaign. Sultan Al-Ghanam and Ali Al-Hassan both come in tonight.
