A personalised Ferrari California driven by Michael Schumacher has been put up for sale, and it goes without saying that it might cost you a fair few pennies to buy it.

The California, owned by the seven-time World Champion from new in 2009, was his private runaround and is currently based in Switzerland.

For any prospective buyers, its paint job is finished in Argento Nurburgring Silver, it has 9,720 miles on the clock as it stands, and has a personalised touch with the former Ferrari driver’s ‘MS’ logo artistically stitched into the headrests, while boasting a 4.3 litre, 460 horsepower V8 under the bonnet.

A 2009 model of the California can fetch up to $100,000 on the open market and, with the price only available on request from Boutsen Classic Cars, which is selling Schumacher’s Ferrari, there’s a strong chance the amount may well go a tad higher than that, given its illustrious former owner…

This is not the first item used by the Formula 1 legend to go up for sale in recent months, with the Benetton B192 used in the German’s first full F1 season having gone under the hammer in April, as well as the Ferrari he used to win the 1998 Hungarian Grand Prix back in March, which commanded a handsome $4.9million [£3.93million] asking price.

Another item that might peak the interests of certain Formula 1 fans would be the arrival of the Alfa Romeo C42 show car on the market.

It’s the first current model of a Formula 1 car to be put on sale in this way, which can be bid on via F1 Authentics online, with the final sale taking place on Tuesday 31 May.

F1’s managing director of motorsports and long-time Ferrari colleague of Schumacher’s, Ross Brawn, recently said that the seven-time World Champion would love getting involved in Formula 1’s new regulations, given the technical nouse he brought to the team in their time working together.
