Scotland squad numbers for Euro 2024 revealed as Steve Clarke offers clues to Germany XI

Scotland's squad numbers for Euro 2024 have been revealed as excitement builds for Friday's kick-off.

Steve Clarke's side flew out to Germany today as they get set to raise the curtain on the tournament by taking on the host nation at the end of the week. Final preparations were done against Finland on Friday past and now it's all about limbering up for the big occasion in training.

Clarke opened up on how tough it was picking a final squad and explaining his decision to the two who missed out - Craig Gordon and John Souttar. He's now had the altogether easier task of assigning those he did go with a number each for the finals. And we can now speculate over whether the numbers mean anything in terms of his XI for the three games.

Does Lawrence Shankland being handed the number nine jersey mean he's the go-to striker? Well, Che Adams is number 10 so we probably can't read too much into that.

Anthony Ralston is number two which means he looks like being the first pick at right wing-back ahead of Ross McCrorie, as expected. Others listed between one and 11 are, unsurprisingly, key men like Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, Scott McTominay and John McGinn.
