Scotland vs Ukraine: World Cup play-off prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, team news and h2h results

Scotland face Ukraine tonight in a delayed World Cup play-off semi-final tie in Glasgow.

The match was originally scheduled to take place in March but was postponed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. With football halted in the war-torn country, Ukraine have played charity friendlies in recent weeks against the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Empoli and Rijeka.

Whoever wins tonight’s emotional semi-final will go through to face Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, in what will be a winner-takes-all affair for a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The group-stage draw for Qatar has already taken place, meaning that the three countries know whoever comes out on top over the next week will go into Group B alongside England, Iran and the USA.

Scotland vs Ukraine prediction

With so much on the line, it’s unlikely to be a gung-ho appraoch from either side in the early stages at Hampden Park.

Scotland have not lost a World Cup qualifier on home soil since 2013 so go into the play-off as slight favourites, against a side dealing with so much off the pitch.

There’s very little to separate the two sides and home advantage could well edge the encounter in Scotland’s favour.

Scotland to win, 2-1.
