Scott Brown has been quizzed on the vacant St Johnstone manager position after Craig Levein was sacked.

The Celtic hero was on Champions League broadcasting duties for TNT Sports when he was asked by presenter Emma Dodds about the "elephant in the room". After Levein was binned by the Saints this week, Ayr United manager Brown was linked with the role having started his season strongly in the Championship with the Honest Men.

He was bailed out of having to answer seriously, though, when fellow guest Johan Mjallby chimed in with a "congratulations" which allowed the 39-year-old to chuckle about the links.

"Cheers big guy!" Brown said to the Swede, before adding: "I've been enjoying it. Ayr's been fantastic. It's been really good for me.

"I obviously went down to Fleetwood and now I'm learning my trade at Ayr. And you never know, big man, I'm looking for a centre-half, we've had a few injuries and you might make a comeback with that new knee!"
