Scottish and Swedish medals success for Springhill Boxing Club
Springhill Boxing Club have enjoyed success in various competitions in recent months.
The club had nine boxers taking part in the Scottish Development Championships at Ravenscraig, taking three gold and two silver medals from the Motherwell venue.
Craig Ritchie, Declyn McBride and Harris Hanif all won gold, while Sam Gardiner and Blake Lynch took silver.
Matthew Poskitt and Christopher McMillan lost in the semi-final round, while Sophie Wright and Alannah McGhee did not get contests.
Next up for the Shotts club was a trip to Sweden to compete in the King of the Ring tournament in Borås, outside Gothenburg.
Over 700 boxers took part in the competition, and several Springhill fighters rose to the occasion, some of whom had to box twice in the same day.
John McGhee won gold in the 2010 42kg category against a Swedish opponent.

Also winning gold was Kayne McPake in the 2013 48kg class.
Ethan Storrie who, like John McGhee, had to fight twice on the same day, stopped his opponent in the first round of his final in a really commanding performance to win the gold.
Josh Mullen won his semi-final, but came up against an experienced English boxer in the final, bringing home a silver medal.
Although not part of the competition, Sophie Wright boxed against a Swedish opponent and continued her winning ways.
Springhill have boxers taking part in two shows in England, and then the Ware House Box Cup in Wales at the end of November.
They also have their own show at Rivals Gym in Wishaw on Saturday, December 14.
